A Journey to Remember: Aditya’s Ladakh Trip Review with Thrillophilia

India is one of the most diverse countries when it comes to unique travel experiences. My partner and I have made a pact to explore its incredible cities and landscapes. After discovering the beauty of South India, this time we decided to explore the ‘Little Tibet’ of India - Leh Ladakh.

I had heard about Thrillophilia’s packages from friends, so we checked their Leh Ladakh tour packages. As expected, they didn’t disappoint, and we booked a week-long trip. Excited for the adventure, we started preparing while dreaming about the majestic mountains, the serene Pangong Lake, and the breathtaking monasteries.

Leh City Tour

We landed in Leh and after acclimatising to the weather, we headed for our city tour. We started at the historic Leh Palace, where we enjoyed stunning panoramic views of the city from its ancient structure. Next, we visited the Shanti Stupa, a peaceful Buddhist monument perched on a hill. We have mostly seen it in pictures, but witnessing the beauty of this sacred place and enjoying the serene views was quite surreal. The white colour of the stupa felt so positive and beautiful amidst the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

To end the day, we explored the Leh Market, a lively place filled with local art, crafts, and souvenirs. We wandered through colourful stalls and our trip would have been incomplete without tasting the delicious momo. It was the perfect way to experience the culture and charm of Leh in just one day.

From Mystical Rivers to Heroic Tales

Our next day in Ladakh was packed with adventure and awe-inspiring sights. We started at Sangam Point, where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet, creating a stunning blend of colours. I thought to myself how magical nature is and how it creates such amazing wonders. Next, we visited Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a peaceful place where we enjoyed the warm hospitality and delicious langar.

After the peaceful experience, we headed for the SECMOL School where we learned about innovative education and sustainability. We ended the day at the Hall of Fame, a moving tribute to Ladakh’s brave soldiers. It was a truly unforgettable experience and the patriot in me was filled with pride for our soldiers.

The following day we headed for Nubra Valley via Khardunga La Pass, one of the world’s highest motorable roads. On the way, we stopped at the famous Rinchen Café, where we enjoyed a steaming bowl of Maggi while surrounded by Ladakh’s towering peaks. Next, we visited the Diskit Monastery, home to the majestic Maitreya Buddha statue, soaking in its peaceful aura.

Finally, we arrived at Nubra Valley, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. The breathtaking desert landscape is nestled between towering mountains, with a serene lake nearby. It was one of the most scenic views we had ever witnessed, and we couldn't stop taking pictures of the stunning backdrop which felt like a painting drawn by nature itself.

A Dreamlike Journey to Pangong Tso

Our journey from Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso was quite ecstatic. My partner was especially spellbound by the breathtaking views and told me, “These views are one of the best views I have ever witnessed and the mountains are famous for all the right reasons. I feel so much peace!”.

The scenic drive took us through rugged mountains and serene landscapes. We made a stop at the charming Shyok Village, where the gentle Shyok River flowed peacefully, adding to the beauty of the valley. We sat there for a while just to breathe in the freshness.

As we reached our campsite at Pangong Lake, the breathtaking sight left us speechless. The crystal-clear waters reflected the towering Himalayan peaks, creating a picture-perfect view. The most fascinating moments were watching the lake’s colours shift from deep blue to turquoise colour. The peaceful ambience, stunning scenery, and starry night sky made it an unforgettable experience—truly a dream come true!

The Last Adventure in Leh Ladakh

Our final adventure in Ladakh took us on a scenic drive back to Leh, passing through the breathtaking Chang La Pass. The thrill of driving through this rugged terrain, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, was exhilarating and adventurous.

We stopped at the Chang La Baba Temple, a tribute to the brave soldiers guarding the borders. We also asked the locals about the significance of the temple and the stories behind it. It was truly an overwhelming experience. Next, we visited the famous Druk Padma Karpo School, known as the filming location of 3 Idiots. It was fascinating to see the school in real life and I couldn’t stop but laugh by reminiscing about the scenes from the movie!

Our last stop was the stunning Thiksey Monastery, where we soaked in the peaceful atmosphere and admired Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage. It was the perfect way to end our unforgettable journey.
