Ladakh through the Pages of Diary & Love: Sanket’s Thrillophilia Trip Review
Sanket and his wife had always dreamed of traveling to Ladakh. The idea of riding through rugged terrains, crossing high mountain passes, and experiencing the beauty of nature at its rawest thrilled them. They spent weeks planning the trip, researching the best routes, places to visit, and the gear they would need for the journey.
After careful consideration, they decided to join a group tour organized by Thrillophilia, known for their well-managed bike trips. They thought traveling with a group of fellow bikers would be fun and would also make them feel less lonely.
One evening, while discussing the trip over coffee, Sanket had an idea. “How about we both document our journey separately in diaries? We can each write down our thoughts, experiences, and emotions every day. Then, on our anniversary, we can exchange the diaries as gifts,” he explained.
Both agreed. Each of them would carry a small notebook to jot down their experiences, feelings, and any interesting incidents. The idea of exchanging these diaries on their anniversary filled them with excitement, knowing that they would be able to relive the trip through each other’s words.
Day 1: Leh
Sanket wrote in his diary on the first evening in Leh:
“We’ve finally made it! The air here feels different, crisp and cool, and the mountains seem to welcome us with open arms. It’s the perfect start to our adventure. We met the other bikers today, all equally excited. Tomorrow, the journey begins.”
His wife’s entry for the day was equally enthusiastic:
“Leh has a lot in store, much much more than I had imagined. The streets are colorful, the people are warm, and the mountains... oh, the mountains! I can’t wait to explore this place with you. The group seems lovely, and I can tell this trip is going to be special.”
Day 2: Sham Valley
As they rode through Sham Valley, Sanket couldn’t stop marveling at the beauty around them. The winding roads, the dramatic cliffs, and the vast landscapes stretched out as far as the eye could see. His diary entry for the day mirrored the same, quite evidently.
“The valley feels like a painting has come to life. Every turn here brings a new sight, a new reason to fall in love with this place. I keep thinking about how lucky I am to be here, especially with you by my side.”
His wife, on the other hand, was drawn towards the people they met along the way. “Today, we stopped at a small village and met a local woman selling tea. She shared stories of life in Ladakh, and it made me realize how different our worlds are, yet how connected we all feel here. The simplicity here is beautiful.”
Day 3: Khardung La and Nubra
Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, was the highlight of their third day. Sanket’s entry was filled with excitement.
“Khardung La! We made it! The climb was tough, but the feeling of standing at the top of the world was worth every breath. I can’t believe we’re here together.”
His wife had a deeper take on the experience.
“Reaching Khardung La felt like a metaphor for life. It was difficult and at times I thought we wouldn’t make it. But here we are, standing together at the top. I think this trip is teaching me more about us than I expected.”
The journey to Nubra Valley was challenging, with unpredictable weather along the way. As they rode, a storm began brewing in the distance, and soon enough, they were caught in the rain. But just as quickly as it started, the rain stopped, and the sky cleared. And then they saw it- a rainbow stretching across the valley.
Sanket’s diary captured the magic of the moment.
“A rainbow, after a storm! I didn’t think anything could top today’s ride, but then nature decided to surprise us. It felt like a gift from the universe, just for us.”
On the other hand, his wife’s entry was filled with wonder.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. The rainbow was so vivid, stretching across the entire sky, as if it was there just for us. I couldn’t stop staring at it. It felt like a sign, though I’m not sure what of.”
Day 4: Pangong Lake
Their journey to Pangong Lake was long and tiring, but the sight that waited for them at the end was worth every mile. The deep blue waters of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, felt surreal.
Sanket wrote, “Pangong Lake is like stepping into a dream. The water is so clear, so blue, it almost doesn’t seem real. We sat by the lake for hours, just soaking in the beauty. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this place.”
Day 5: Leh via Chang La
The couple’s ride back to Leh via Chang La was quieter, both of them lost in their thoughts. The past few days had been intense, filled with beauty, challenges, and unforgettable moments.
Sanket’s wife’s entry echoed with such sentiments. “As we rode back, I kept thinking about all the moments we’ve shared on this trip. The highs, the lows, the laughter, the quiet moments. This trip has been more than just a vacation- it’s been a journey of discovery, of ourselves and each other.”
Day 6: Stok Village
Their last stop was Stok Village, a quiet, peaceful place that felt like the perfect end to their adventure. They spent the day walking through the village, talking to locals, and enjoying the simple beauty of life in the mountains.
Their final entry for the trip was filled with gratitude. “Stok feels like calm after the storm. It’s quiet, peaceful, and the perfect place to remember everything we’ve experienced. We’re so grateful for this trip, for you, and for all the memories we’ve made.”
As they packed their bags and prepared to leave, they both knew that this trip to Ladakh was a journey that deepened their bond, filled their days with wonder, beauty, and love.
They promised to gift each other their diaries on their anniversary, knowing that each page held not just words, but memories that would last a lifetime.
